In 1929, Xiuling Qian leaves China to study in Belgium.
During WWII, with the help of a German general, she manages to save the life of about a hundred Belgian civilians condamned to death.
Today Chinese television rewrites her life into a TV series.
Her granddaughter wonders : why do the Chinese want to use her as their new international heroine ? What will be left of her true story in this ‘soap opera’ ?
