In 1987, a young westerner lived for a year with a Japanese family in Tokyo. This family gradually became his own, his second family.
A few years later, Otosan, his Japanese father, died of cancer. It has been almost three years and the mourning rituals come to close as this young westerner, now a film director, takes us to meet his adoptive family.
This privileged approach uncovers for us a Japan we‚ are not accustomed to, far from touristy cliches. We see Japan from the inside, sharing in the intimacy of a family learning to ‚let go‚ and go on with life according to their own cultural way. The phases of sorrow and joy they go through as day goes by echo our questioning about death and shed light on our own way of coping with live.{{'DUREE' | translate}}: 52'
