“I was a miner before I was born”, says Alexandre.
“For me, it was hell”, says Marie-Thérèse.
“That’s how life was in those days”, says Alfreda.

They were between 10 and 14 years old when they started their careers as labourers.Now these children, whose childhood was sacrificed to industrial needs, are old.
