MAC’S. LA LUMIERE EST A L’INTERIEUR

In September 2002, MAC’s, the museum of contemporary arts opened on the site of Grand-Hornu, a former colliery, exceptional architectural ensemble thus saved from ruin. For the inhabitants of the neighborhood, it is a real revolution: the mine they have always known turns into a temple of an art of which he did not suspect the existence. Contemporary art comes into their daily lives.

The opening of the museum is an opportunity to confront the works of contemporary artists to the eyes of neighbors, to have the vision of Krystyna, daughter and wife of a minor, the guardians of the museum, all from the region and discover.
