In this portrait of a factory-city, and of its employed-inhabitants, where the architecture was established according to the social hierarchy, the film evokes the great past project, but also the current impact of the vision of the Belgian industrialist.
A visit through the last century utopia land, “Le Petit bout du monde” takes us along with the industrial but also delicate rhythm of Salin de Giraud, Camargue, chemical production center and living place founded by Ernest Solvay in 1896. In this portrait of a factory-city, of its inhabitants-employees, where the architectural concept comes with social hierarchy, through memories and gestures, the film recalls the Belgian industrialist’s vision, and its remains.
