How do the inhabitants of Beirut live today, after the Lebanon war, unleashed on April 13, 1975, whose official end was declared in 1990, after sixteen years of conflict?
Why and how did the old militia manage to inflict all this violence? How do we continue to fantasize the war after having lived it? As for civilians, eight years after the end of the war, it continues to obsess them, the fighting continues in their head. So why are they pretending nothing happened? Why have the Lebanese kept quiet and continue to protect their killers? Whence comes this kind of complicity between the executioner and his victim, which creates a situation such that we are forced today to “verify” that this war has taken place?
