During a live performance in the RTBF, Liège Studios, Jean-Pierre Verheggen
put his own spontaneously invented names on anonymous faces filmed in Liège during 1984.He has a double aim. Not only to re-establish links with the art-form of the Aunt Sally of the fairground, but also to make a record of the Wallonian vernacular identity : from witty and mocking nicknames to the litany of place names and children’s nursery rhymes. The result : a joyous celebration of the Walloon language, free, impudent and, in consequence, international. Based on an idea developed with valère Novarina, Pierre Lobstein initiated this way of filming in France and undertakes to pursue it further with other writers in other countries.
