This film is the story of two sisters. Dima left Lebanon in 1984 to study cinema in Belgium. She left her country filled with bitterness, but also with love and passion. Rim never left and is a painter. She maintains a constant intimate contact with her city.
Although separated, both have lived the events of Beirut to their fullest. Rim lives them from the inside: fear, war, euphoria, happiness and beauty. Dima lives them at distance: through television, newspapers, intimate telephone conversations and letters. She desperately wants to remove the distance between her and Beirut. Each visit becomes a new challenge. Dima is going to meet again her sister, her city, her beauty, life which is stronger than the troubles of war and the memories of terror. She is going to discover the after-war Beirut, this busy city with its illuminated streets, its pubs full of noise and joy, and its shops with again plenty of goods. Only the sea, facing Beirut, seems unchanged. And yet, the city has told many a tale…
