On the beaches of an Iranian island, amid magnificent landscapes, fishermen continue to practice traditional fishing. Moshta opens a window on the lives of these men trying to elude the announced extinction of their craft, in a society undergoing fast economic and social change.
On the beaches of Qeshm Island, in the south of Iran, ancient-times fishermen work hard to untangle the few fishes who got caught in their traps. In the bare landscape of the surrounding hills, bustling harbours and busy factories witness that mass tourism and economical development are coming.
Moshta depicts the daily life of these fishermen who lost their marks because of these upheavals, and who try to set up strategies to resist them.
Mohammad can no longer secure the future of his family. His son, like all young people, is thinking of another future, more at grasp with reality. Hassan seems to have no other prospect than emigration. And Ahmad tries to adapt his own corner of paradise to welcome tourists.
Through these men’s simple life, the film also portrays a country undergoing economic and social change and tries to testify to what these fishermen used to represent in the landscape of the island and in its society.{{'DUREE' | translate}}: 59
