Jeanne, Paul, ordinary people who became extraordinary people.
History, the great history, they were actors among others, modestly, courageously. They are a link between the surrealists of the 20s, the militants of the 30s, the resistance fighters of the Second World War, the creators of social security, the militants for peace, the artisans of painless childbirth, the liberation movements that took place throughout the world after 1945, and the artists and creators-inventors of new forms.Fanny, my mother, their daughter, looks on all this with tenderness and dreams of a world freed from its chains. And then it’s my turn to dream, inheriting a heroic history and feeling like a fighter again.
My grandmother’s cellar holds many traces and treasures. I dig, I discover, I tell. My young man’s bedroom also resonates with many of these wonders. On the wall, images, photos and posters evoke the dreamers and wrestlers of yesteryear.
Jeanne, Paul, people like so many others on our little planet, yesterday, today, tomorrow. Lives that boil down to this simple idea: nothing is written, anything can happen, and we’re not immune to good news either…
